Since the launch of my new book, a common question continues to come up, “Why did you write a book?” Well, I would like to tell you the answer is a quick and simple one but there are many reasons. Let me take you through the different reasons below.
One reason is the response to my blog entries. Every time I put one of many ”NFL Journey” blogs in rotation, I received a message from a parent saying how much they enjoyed the story, but also how their kid really enjoyed the story. Thank you for writing it, “you should write a book.” “Who me? Hahahah…Maybe one day.” Was my usual response.
Another reason is friends who read those same blog entries said,” You should write a book.”
Another reason is by writing a book I will be leaving something behind when I’m gone. That says I did something in the world while I was here.
Another reason is, as all of you know, my pride and joy Adrionna, my daughter. She has become my driving force in life. I want to show her she can do anything she puts her mind to. Her dad an author? Not many would’ve ever thought author and my name would be in the same sentence.
Another reason is it took me a while to realize this, but I have a story to tell. A pretty good and interesting one for those who like sports and want to find their place in the world.
Another reason is I love to motivate and help people. Maybe my story will help at least one person to chase their dreams, not give up, try a little harder in everything they do even if there are challenges everywhere.
The last reason, and it pushed me over the edge, was a constant hints in social media. One evening as I was on social media, I had a series of ads all of the sudden pop up in my news feed.
1. Ever wanted to write your own book?
2. Go from a dream to published.
3. Would you like to find time to write your book?
These finally sparked my curiosity to take it a step further. When I headed over to the website, I saw a familiar name and a familiar face. Come to find out, this person was a mentor of mine that I was unaware started her own publishing company. Sheesh, talk about subliminal messages. So, to the phone I went and the rest is history.
Of course I had plenty of doubts that flowed through my head, I mean, who is going to read a book by me? Not many, I thought, but who cares, do it anyways. It’s been a few weeks since I published and I’m happy to say the response has been better than I could’ve ever hoped for. Thank you to everyone who worked on this project with me. You helped a dream become a reality.
