Hey Hey me again! It’s August and, unfortunately, that means summer is winding down and life is about to get busier and hectic for most. I want to remind you as things around you start to get hectic, rely on your anchors to help keep you centered.
What do I mean by anchors? The definition of an anchor, “a heavy piece of equipment that’s dropped to the bottom of the water to prevent a boat from drifting too far away from it’s spot when waters and winds blow.” So, just like anchors hold a boat steady, we have to rely on the anchors in our life to hold us steady. A lot of you have mentioned to me that life has gotten better and feels more normal since the gym has reopened and has helped you manage the stress around you. I would consider the gym and working out an anchor in your life.
What are your other anchors? Do you have any? Do you know what they are? In my life
I have a few anchors that hold me steady when things start to get rough in my life. My anchors consist of, life long friends, my family and significant other, my daughter, working out, my faith, and my experiences, just to name a few. As you can see sometimes a person or a group of people can be your anchor, but it can also be something much different than a person and be more like your faith and beliefs. When we look to people as our anchors, they can’t be, or typically are not the people that are not vested in our lives or are just in and out of our lives. These are people that we have known a while, know us pretty well and have our best interests first. You know…the people that no matter the day or time they would do what they can to help you get through the storm.
As these waters in the next months to come get rough, start casting out your anchors to keep you steady so you can continue to make progress in life.
Until next time continue to live life one degree above the rest. Remember to have your anchors close by!
