Tom Brady has just won his 7th Super Bowl Title at the age of 43.
People are enamored at his accomplishments at this age, at such a high level of competition. Yes, we should be. Say what you want about him as a person, father, political stances and personal allies. You are entitled to your thoughts, and since he makes most of that information public, it is yours to do with it as you please.
Whether you are a Buccaneers fan or Patriots fan, New Englander or from “Bawston,” we should only all have one undeniable fact in all of what he is doing to stay in our limelight.
Consistency.
Consistency is king.
He consistently does as directed by his coach, Alex Guerrero. Can we call into question Alex and Tom’s methods? Sure we can. Do I encourage for you to all blindly do as told?
No is the answer, and bottom line is it works for HIM.
Without going over EVERY detail of minutia that is the “TB12 Method” and tossing out the pros and cons, let’s break down some pretty easy stuff.
DIET:
Predominantly, he hydrates a lot to the point he is quoted as drinking “a couple hundred ounces “ of water with some electrolytes.
Only eats organic foods. (HOW HORRID! FOOD FROM THE EARTH THAT’S REAL! )
He steers clear of caffeine, white flour, white sugar, night shade vegetables that cause HIM inflammation (don’t forget that weird part where everyone is different, tastes, allergies, reactions etc.)
Eats differently on game days. (Clean carbs and proteins)
During the winter months, imbibes in dark leafy greens and animal proteins and beans or legumes.
TRAINING:
He tends to have a 4 minute massage before an extensive strength and conditioning training.
Trains up to 3 hours a day in total with added “Pliability” work with bands and bodyweight movements, along with a post workout massage occasionally.
So do you have to do everything he does to obtain a super lean and, seemingly, pain free body post 40 years old?
No.. not exactly.
Everything that he does can be taken with a grain of salt (NOT HIM THOUGH…IT’S THE DEVIL!) Joking aside, the reason I wanted to touch on this subject is the vitriol someone receives when they are successful and doing right by their own standards and modicum of what THEY perceive to be important to live by.
Who am I or YOU to tell me or HIM, or anyone, how they should go about their business? I won’t …unless you ask me to. Brady is selling a product (he being said product) that has success and not every one of those those boxed & shiny TB12 programs is exactly the same. But when you break down the basics of what he and his team are getting to the consumers, it is important and SHOULD SOUND SIMILAR for those of you that ask for advices and training from coaches.
Coaches ask you to:
Try hard, perform some kind of self care, not just for your body like soft tissue work and massages, but for your mind as well. We ask for you to get sleep, eat as clean as possible, train anywhere from 3 to 5 times a week, and above all stay as consistent as possible.
There is no magic pill, never has been, unless it was labeled “Consistency”. Are there downfalls to consistency? Yes! If you are consistently doing the wrong things that go south of your goals and aspirations then you will be disappointed.
So when we look up to or down at someone in the limelight whether we aspire to be similar or completely different from them, it is that person’s consistency to themselves that keeps that light on them be it pale or bright.
