Rick Teeden

"Wow Papa, that workout was tough but it was a lot of fun. I know J, I can't believe that Papa was lifting that 100lb rock and flipping that big tire. Papa, did you see us pushing that sled with all that weight on it? We're getting strong like you Papa!" ~Cameron and Jason Teeden

Hi, my name is Rick Teeden and when I hear my grandsons make statements like that, I know that I made the best decision of my life when I joined 212 Health and Performance several year ago. Although I am one of the gym's oldest members at the age of 59, I can honestly say that I am in the best shape of my life and I owe it all to Kerry and his staff.

As you can tell from my opening statement, my grandsons are a big part of my life. My daughter is a single mom and she and my three grandsons live with my wife and I. Fortunately, we are in a position where we can provide them with a nice home in a great community with a great school system. My two oldest grandsons participate in Little League, Pop Warner Football, C.Y.O Basketball and 3-on-3 hockey. I coach them in several sports, so it seems that I am forever running from one practice session or game to another. My youngest grandson has been diagnosed with Autism and, at this time, is not able to participate in these same activities as his brothers but I am hoping that someday he will be able to do so. So as you can see, it is my grandsons that keep me motivated. I want them to learn from an early age that if they are to be successful, they will need to work hard and not quit even when something seems too difficult; something that they have already begun to learn by tagging along with me to the gym.

I really enjoy the atmosphere here and the group workouts which are designed to take you outside your comfort zone. They are very intense, efficient, never boring and they are unlike anything that I have ever experienced in any other gym. Somehow, Kerry and his team make you believe in yourself and motivate you to do what you believe to be the impossible. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to quit during one of these tough rounds when one of my favorite motivational quotes, "Stop thinking about it and just do it!; Ten more seconds!; Don't quit on me now!; Rub some dirt on it and keep going!" explode over the speakers and somehow I end up pushing myself and finishing the round.

I also wanted to thank all the other members for their inspiration and for the many new friendships that I have made here. I could not have asked for a better group of people!

As we enter into 2013 I want to shed 30 more pounds of body fat before April 30th and I want to continue getting leaner and stronger. I would also like to hike Mt. Washington for the second time this September. With the help from the 212 Health and Performance team, I know that I will get there.
