Hi everyone! My name is Shannon Capodilupo, and I started my 212 fitness journey about 3 years ago. I actually stumbled upon the gym by accident, while grabbing a coffee next door at Seven Stars. I saw the gym sign, thought to myself I probably should think about this but hey why not right? I walked right in and was greeted by Heather, scheduled for a kettlebell workshop with Colin that week, and 3 years later here I am. And for some reason Kerry and the staff have chosen me as member spotlight for July, thank you!
I have never been an “athlete”. I have always had a very noncommittal relationship with exercise. Prior to joining 212 I had memberships at various box gyms with less than regular attendance. I guess it’s fair to say I did not realize how much my body was capable of, as I had never pushed myself out of my comfort zone. In the 3 years that I have been part of the 212 family, I have quickly realized how important exercise is not only for my physical health but more importantly for my mental health. Working in the Emergency Department as a nurse and taking on graduate school full time has been stressful to say the least, and my workouts have become a great outlet. I easily could have made every excuse in the world not to show up to 212 over the last few years. Being part of the 212 family kept me motivated to power through and to continue to show up for myself, even at the crack of dawn 5am hour, still half asleep. LOL. I continue to be impressed by all of the staff and members of the 212 family. Thank you for all that you do!
