Jenn Frey

Hi, my name is Jenn and I was pleasantly surprised to be a spotlight member of 212. I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary at 212, as I had my introduction with Colin on 7/14/21. I knew the minute we started working out that 212 would be a game changer for me. I have always been athletic and quite competitive throughout high school and was a D1 collegiate athlete. After college I coached track and field hockey and stayed in shape by running and competed in a couple of marathons and triathlons. I have always been a cardio person and even though I knew how important weight training was, I would never stick to a routine.

I work in healthcare and have worked many hours over the past few years. Next thing you know, I totally stopped taking care of myself, I’m sure many of you can relate. I had gained weight, which made it even more difficult to get motivated. I finally got sick of myself and called my go to girl for guidance and she directed me to 212. I did some research and honestly was a little nervous that there weren’t many cardio machines. I decided to stick to advice I give clients about stepping outside your comfort zone, and haven’t looked back since.

My friend was right, 212 isn’t just a gym, it’s a community. Heather makes you feel welcome the second you walk through that door and will answer ANY questions you have. All the coaches have been super supportive and never once judged me, I do enough of that for everyone- LOL. Colin was patient, took note of injuries and made me feel comfortable. I struggled walking and sitting for days after my first small group with Alicia, thank you for that :). My second small group would be my game changer. I was with Kerry and these kick ass ladies, intimidated doesn’t nearly touch on how I felt. I was praying to not throw up throughout the workout as I have never worked out like this. Turns out, this group of ladies took me under their wing (You know who you are!) and I have developed friendships I cherish and am very grateful for.

212 has become very special to me. I appreciate the attention all the coaches give. Sean was a saint during Superhero Academy and knew my limits better than I did. No matter what you do with Kim, you will get an ass kicking. I have fallen in love with weight training and can’t picture my life without it. It doesn’t matter what your background is, the coaches are sensitive to your needs and the confidence gained alone is worth joining. When I joined, I was so out of shape that I couldn’t do a sit up, fast forward 1 year and can now do a few pullups, which I have never been able to do. At 212, it’s not just physical strength you will gain, you will grow emotionally as well. Invest in yourself. You are worth it!
