Hello 212ers! It’s an honor to be selected for this Member Spotlight!
A little about me. I’m Sham Ganglani. When I’m not at work, I spend as much time as I can with my girlfriend, Kari-Ann and her two kids, Sophia & James, and our dog, Atticus. I’ve been a member of 212 for about a year, (I think). Before joining 212, I was terrible about going to a gym regularly. Everyone has their thing that gets them to the gym, and I realized mine is, accountability. When I know Kerry and team are expecting me to come in, I can’t let them down!
I joined because I knew I needed to get healthier physically, but I’ve gotten so much more than physical health from 212.
If you’ve seen me at the gym, you’ve probably noticed I’m a below knee amputee. I was hit by a car while riding a motorcycle in 2007. I’ve done ok as an amputee, but it’s always made me think of myself as less capable. Since coming to 212, I’ve become stronger, physically. More importantly, working with Kerry and team has made me forget about being handicap. It’s not the first thing I think of when I describe or think of myself. I no longer let myself think I’m limited because of it.
Every now and then, I think we’re all lucky enough to have people in our lives who have done something so profound for us, we don’t know how to adequately thank them for it. Kerry, Rob, Scott, Heather and now Presley & Nikki, I don’t know how to adequately thank you for what you’ve done for me. I’ll keep coming and, someday, I’ll figure it out…
I love this place. I love all the people I’ve met, all I’ve learned and will learn, and the experiences we all have working on ourselves in more ways than one. Thank you to everyone that makes 212 feel like family. See you all at the gym!
