Some of you may have noticed your body has been trying hard to get back on course and stay consistent in your training and workouts. I know a lot of people out there say and think, “You own a gym, you can workout everyday, no problem.” Well that’s not the case. Gym owners and coaches have the same struggles and vulnerability that you do. Especially as I have gotten older and my responsibilities have grown with the addition of my mini me’s into my life. The greatest additions, but a lot of moving parts and schedules to consider. So when I say, I know some of the struggles you go through, I know and understand. But, we always have to fight for it, like the self-proclaimed most positive man in the world, Coach Scott always says, ‘We gotta fight for it team!”. Once you give up on yourself, you have no where else to go.
Just like most, I too, get in that non-motivated mood and don’t feel like working out or moving. That happened to me today. I really didn’t feel like it, and had that conversation in my head, “I can just do it tomorrow”. That sat with me for a little bit as I carried on with the rest of my day. Then, the talk started to creep in again. “Don’t break your streak”, “It’s okay, you need the rest”, “Make up for it another day., “You have to lead by example”, “What if something gets in the way tomorrow?” UGGHHHHHHH….the mental battle is a tough one.
What I then did was make a deal with myself. I agreed to commit to move for 20 minutes and see what happens from there. I ended up getting into a groove, the music was on point and I continued my full workout for an hour. I’m extremely happy that I did it. Now onto the next battle, LOL!!
We all have different tactics we use to keep us going. This is just one I used on myself today that worked for me. If you’ve never done this before, add it to your repertoire to help keep you consistent. Maybe 20 mins is too much, maybe 10 minutes is better for you. You choose your time threshold, make your internal agreement with yourself and go for it!
The journey to consistency and a fit, healthy lifestyle is not an easy one. So pull out all the stops for yourself because you are worth it. Until next time gang, continue to live a life 1 degree above the rest!
