Results? What Else to Look at.

by Kerry Taylor

I have sat down with many people over the years of being a coach. All of them have many different goals that they are coming to the gym shooting for. Many want some level of weight loss and strength. The needle does get moved in that direction for results. What else can we look at to put in the results column you receive from getting back in the gym? I think far too often we forget about the other results that we can achieve from going on a fitness journey and making it a mainstay in our lives. Here are a few other things for you to consider.

Energy Levels

Exercising will help to increase your stamina and ability to handle any task before you and allow you to keep going.

Health Check Ups

Cholesterol levels, blood pressure, heart health and other health markers are improved over time with the consistency of keeping yourself going to the gym.

Spending Time with the Family

No more getting tired easily from little activities with the family. You will find that you are able to do more activities with your kids, family and significant other. Hiking, playing sports or games in the back yard are all activities that training consistently will help you achieve and not be worn out from.

Sleep Quality

You should find it easier to find a better sleep pattern for yourself that will improve overall sleep quality. Exercise will allow you to have a deeper and more restorative sleep to help with overall functioning in life.

Daily Activity

You will be able to do more in life from the increase in strength, flexibility and endurance you gain.

Mental Assessment

Your mood, overall mental well being and stress are all improved from exercise. Anxiety and depression are managed better with a consistent added does of exercise in your life.

Sense of Accomplishment

What about that highly challenging workout you were able to complete when you didn’t think you could? Maybe it’s a progression in an exercise that is more challenging. Maybe it’s an increase in weight moved in a drill. Make note because you achieved something and leveled up. Let your confidence flow because you deserve it!

Consistency

Simple thing, but hard for many to do. The fact that you committed to something over a long period of time amongst everything else you have going on in your life is something to be applauded.

Someone is Always Watching

You have and will become someone others look up to and want to be like. Family members, kids or your other half are the ones closest to you that will want to get the same results you are achieving.

Clear Mind

Your mind will become more clear which will allow you to focus better on tasks and concentrate.

So, when you look at your results or people ask what results you have seen, don’t forget to throw some of these into the mix of what you have achieved, if they apply. Until next time, continue to live life one degree above the rest!
