HOLY COW!!!! I’ve been selected as a spotlight member! Thank you Kerry and the 212 team for giving me this opportunity.

It all started one night with the words “Come over here, I want to show you something. This is where I go in the morning. I think you would love it”. As I cupped my face up against the glass and peered inside, my mind was screaming NO WAY!!! but my outward response was “Hmmm, I don't think so. I need to get home, now”.  That fateful night started what I now call my induction into the “cult” of 212. I know that has a negative connotation but 212ers, let’s be honest. Don’t you feel like once you're in, you never want to leave?

Okay, back to my story.  It took me a while to get into the groove of 212. It took someone else actually booking my first appointment with Sean St.Onge to get me inside the door. I’ve always been an active person, not that I would consider myself athletic, but I always like to be on the move. I took fitness classes in college and all the way until that first appointment at 212. However, I had no idea what I was doing and no solid knowledge or experienced personnel guiding me. I would workout in spurts, pretty much dependent upon what was happening in my life. Whether it were a big break-up or life changing event, BOOM, I was the next Olivia Newton John, cardio-ing like no other! However, I never felt stronger. During these years of intermittent cardio training, what I learned was that I suffered from anxiety. I never wanted to book personal training sessions at other gyms because, quite frankly, I was a self-conscious ball of anxiety. That anxiety, combined with being recently discharged from physical therapy after a bad fall down a flight of stairs, held me back from from any training that could change not only my appearance, but my everyday life.

With all these new discoveries of myself, I was reluctant that 212 could help, or more importantly, that I could actually do anything that this “gym” suggested. There were no machines??…I mean c’mon people!!!

Then I had my first appointment with Sean, which became the first of many. His guidance and training, along with the help from the unbelievable 212 crew, has allowed me to achieve things, both physically and mentally, that I didn’t believe were possible. I was soon in a better mindset, with a stronger body accompanied by a new confidence that would translate to my entire daily activities and relationships.

I am so grateful for the 212 crew, the friendships that were formed and the family we’ve all become. 212 has changed my life.

So, if I ever see someone cupping their hands to look through the window, I’ll be on the inside, waving them to come on in. Who knows? Maybe their story is just like mine.
