I have known about 212 for at least 8 years, when I heard about you guys from Mary Elizabeth. I started getting various little pains when I upped my tennis playing to 3 - 4x a week during Covid. I also noticed my game was not getting better for all that play that I was putting in. So, I decided to try strength training.
I joined 212 when I realized that I needed to add strength training and stretches into my routine if I wanted to play tennis as often as I want as long as I want. (My aunt Sally played until she was 91). I was nervous about joining a gym with all the macho stereotypes running through my head. I thought the gym would be full of sweaty young men who would be very judgy or dismissive. I absolutely love that 212 has such diversity- not something that I get to experience much. And everyone has been warm, fun and welcoming. Kerry really sets the tone for that - it's really a great thing.
My daughter who has recently started going to a gym in NYC came to visit a few weeks ago and I brought her to 212 so we could workout together. She loved the vibe and personal attention she still received in the group of 6 she was in. We were talking about it last night and she said, "Kerry even helped me fix the way I do a press." I hope she gets to stop by with me again when she's home.
Kerry, the team, and all 212ers have always made me feel welcome and challenged me to do more, often while laughing. What a special place.
